Grosvenor successfully installs R9 system

Glazerite customer Bolton-based Grosvenor Windows has successfully completed its first Residence 9 installation, with a healthy quote bank building in its wake.

Grosvenor supplied two sets of French Doors, a Bow window and four sash windows to the private residence after the owners visited Grosvenor’s Bolton showroom. The couple had already researched the market and decided upon the Residence 9 system, which is designed to replicate the ubiquitous 19th century flush sash timber window that features in so many British homes. Keen to reduce the maintenance on their windows and doors the couple decided to replace their timber frames when they became aware that a PVC-U window was available that closely replicated the style of the originals in their home.

The couple had already obtained a quote from a major national retailer but decided to get at least one more and, following their visit to Grosvenor’s showroom found that not only was the quote more competitive a two year interest-free finance option also served to offset the additional cost of Residence 9 over conventional systems. What closed the deal for the couple was the manufactured quality of the product.

Grosvenor’s Richard Martin handled the sale to the couple: “They had researched the market well and were determined to install Residence 9. They chose Grosvenor to provide the windows and doors when they became confident that we could do the job at least as well as the national retailer they had already received a quote from. Our price, service and the quality of the products manufactured by hand in Glazerite’s specialist range production facility in Wellingborough sealed the deal.”

Glazerite, one of the UK’s largest trade fabricators, began manufacturing windows and doors using the Residence 9 system last year. The product has become something of a sensation due to the attention to detail paid with the offer of authentic period design and features, coupled with the latest weather and security performance standards.

Pete Smith, head of Glazerite’s Bolton operation, says Residence 9 has further extended the company’s vast range of products, styles and options: “Our policy is to provide our customers with the largest possible arsenal of products to ensure they can go after all sales opportunities and handle every demand from customers. Residence 9 is quickly capturing a very specific customer base and is an increasingly important addition.”

Major refurb for iconic Manchester building
As part of a large scale renovation programme, The Glazerite UK Group Limited and its Stockport-based customer, Arctic Seal MCR Ltd, have supplied and installed 1000 windows for a state-of-the-art 260,000 square foot business community.  Universal Square is a unique office campus based on the Piccadilly fringe of Manchester City Centre, offering a professional service to more than 50 companies. As part of the demanding refurbishment project, five new interlinked buildings are all congregated around an impressive courtyard, with 24-hour security, car parking facilities, a restaurant, fitness centre and more. The old building has been completely transformed and, as well as external cladding to the complete building, 1000 VEKA M70 windows were supplied to Arctic Seal for installation. The new structurally coupled windows are finished in Anthracite to replicate aluminium in alignment with the modern, 21st century look and feel of the building. All ground floor windows are Secured By Design accredited and all glazing is grey tinted. Arctic Seals Director Shahzad Ashraf commented:  "Having visited the Glazerite UK Group stand at the 2017 FIT Show, we were very impressed with the quality of their windows, and in addition to that their windows met our requirements in terms of what size frame they could supply. Since then we have worked with them on the Universal Square project, as well as two office-to-flat conversions in both Derby and Cannock, totalling around 1000 windows. Each of these were standard frames but with different levels of glass spec due to soundproofing and depending on elevation. All projects have run to schedule tanks to great communication from Glazerite and all deliveries arriving as planned." Glazerite's Sales Manager Pete Smith said: "This project is one of three across the county that we have worked on together with Arctic Seal within the last year after meeting at last year's FIT Show. The 2017 show was a platform for Glazerite to showcase further new projects and support services, and we are pleased this has led to working with Arctic Seal on such projects."  Pete added: "Now almost complete, the Universal Square project no longer bears any resemblance at all to the building that was historically built to house Great Universal Stores. Arctic Seal have achieved a fantastic result with an inviting and modern space for businesses of all sectors, from SMEs to some major blue chip companies. This was a great project to be involved with and the newly transformed building will play an iconic role in the Manchester commuter belt, with its location on the main rail track into the city."

Glazerite customer completes Mill renovation for University
K2 Aluminium Systems, an installer of the Glazerite UK Group recently completed a redevelopment project in Halifax for Leeds Beckett University Business Centre. The project consisted of 125 windows as part of the larger multi-million pound transformation programme on the old weaving mill located on Horton Street in Halifax. The architectural aluminium specialist installed VEKA's M70 frames in grey, which were manufactured by Glazerite's Bolton Division. Sales Manager for Glazerite, Pete Smith explains:  "The Matrix 70 system, characterised by its 5 chambers and clean chamfered lines, provides a modern, energy efficient solution that looks equally at home when used for new build projects or refurbishment projects such as this one. The required styles looked complex in design but were easy to manufacture thanks to our state-of-the-art multi-headed welding and cleaning facilities.  K2 needed a quick turnaround to fulfil their tight fitting schedule, installed a floor per week to meet the completion deadline, and our nationwide coverage meant we could deliver as and when required. The frames themselves were matched to the original timber window style to keep in touch with its period facade, and this project is another great example of thermally efficient, modern materials being used to allow a historic building to live on for many years to come." As part of its partnership with Calderdale Council, Leeds Beckett University is launching a new initiative to drive growth amongst early-stage and growing businesses. The University Business Centre will be based at Piece Mill in Halifax next to historic Piece Hall and will re-open later this year. Piece Mill is an impressive converted mill providing open plan, affordable office and meeting space plus a range of business support in the centre of Halifax. The centre is part of a network of Leeds Beckett University Business Centres that have been operating for more than 15 years. Over 200 businesses across the region are currently located in Leeds Beckett's private, shared and co-working spaces which to date have supported over 800 businesses to accelerate their growth.
