NFA 2020 Finalists in three categories

Tags: Glazerite   |   Added:

After a tough start of the year for us all, we are delighted to be finalists in three categories for this year’s National Fenestration Awards, the industries fastest growing, independent awards event. Originally launched back in 2013, these awards aim to be the fairest event in fenestration, rewarding the very best of our industry.

Since Glazerite was formed 20 years ago it has grown tenfold, with phenomenal growth of over 150% in the last eight years alone. Our employees and customers are at the heart of Glazerite, and with 2020 marking our 20th year in business, what better way to celebrate a year of further performance and increased product offering than by making it as a finalist in this years NFA awards for Fabricator/Manufacturer and PVC company of the year.

We are also proud that our very own Digital Marketing Co-ordinator, Lauren Edwards has also made it as a finalist in the Social Networker category. Since joining Glazerite three years ago, Lauren has helped manage the Glazerite brand accounts and supports our customers with their social media strategy and any other marketing assistance needed.

We would really appreciate your vote for us in these categories to help us win add the icing to the cake of our 20th year in business for our team.

Finalists:

  • Fabricator/Manufacturer
  • PVC Company
  • Social Networker - Lauren Edwards

Glazerite welcomes new member of the Board
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has announced further changes to its senior management team, following the recent appointment of Group Managing Director, Robert Brearley. Mike Johnson, who has been with Glazerite since it was founded in 2000, is to move towards retirement during the course of 2021, with Mark Johnston taking on the role of Group Finance Director. Mark joins the trade fabricator from his role as Finance and Commercial Director at Sovereign Group Ltd, which produces windows and doors for social and affordable housing properties. Group Managing Director, Robert Brearley says of his appointment: “Mark has extensive commercial and financial experience across a range of sectors, and we’re delighted to welcome him to the business. He will work closely with Mike for a transitional period, so we have a seamless handover before Mike enjoys his well-earned retirement.” Alongside founders John Hewitt and Jason Thompson, Mike has played an instrumental role in evolving Glazerite into a leading trade fabricator, with four manufacturing divisions and a £29 million turnover. Mark, who joins Glazerite on 4th January 2021, says of his new role: “I’m delighted to be joining Glazerite. It’s a forward-thinking organisation with exciting plans for growth, and I’m really looking forward to playing my part in further enhancing its position as a market leader.”

Glazerite introduces Timberweld® technology
Leading trade fabricator, the Glazerite UK Group Ltd, has welcomed the introduction of Timberweld® technology to its Specials Division. Timberweld® - the patented method of welding corners on uPVC to make an authentic timber butt joint effect - has been in use by Glazerite on its Residence 9 and Residence 7 products since July. Ian Lloyd, Operations Director for Glazerite, says: “We first looked at Timberweld at the Fit Show in 2019 and we were impressed with the manufacturing efficiencies it would bring to our more handcrafted products, as well as the great aesthetics it replicates on the window. We are now manufacturing both R9 and R7 with a Timberweld sash and a mechanically jointed outerframe, mullion and transom, and we’re really pleased with the results so far.” The Timberweld equipment, which includes new end millers, cutter sets and a specially adapted welder, was installed by Rugby-based Total Machinery Solutions (TMS) at Glazerite’s heritage-focused Specials Division in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. The site, in Stewarts Road, has been subject to regular investment since it was opened in 2017, with the £80,000 Timberweld spend part of a wider £1 million scheme to improve machinery, expand site presence and grow the Glazerite fleet over the last 18 months across the whole Group. Ian adds: “Timberweld technology gives us greater flexibility and efficiencies in the manufacture and transport of frames, as windows can be ordered unglazed in both R9 and R7, depending on what is required for individual projects. It also allows for greater throughput of the products, and consistency in their finish.” Following the successful commissioning of the machinery at the Specials Division, the company will be manufacturing Halo Flush Sash at their East Division to the same Timberweld specification from November, making Glazerite the first fabricator to manufacture the Halo product in this way. Glazerite’s CEO, Jason Thompson, says: “Flush sash products are showing considerable growth and have massive potential going forward. As a fabricator, we’re always looking at ways to enhance our product range and manufacturing techniques in a way that balances aesthetics and technology. Despite the current economic climate, we feel Timberweld has been an important part of our recent expenditure as it allows us to broaden our offering to installer partners and equip them with the premium products they need to win business.”
