Our 18th Pro-am golf day last week raised thousands for mental health support

We welcomed more than 100 customers and suppliers along to our annual Pro Am Golf Day last month, with generous guests raising an incredible £20,500 for mental health charity, Kelly’s Heroes.

Our event, now in its 18th year, took place at the 18-hole championship course at Wellingborough Golf Club, which is set in the grounds of Harrowden Hall.  More than 24 teams participated, with guests later joining the golfers for an evening reception packed full of live music, dancing, a raffle and an auction. Winners on the day were Symphony Windows, with a team representing Kelly’s Heroes finishing in second place, and M3 Floodtec a close third. Meanwhile Adrian Barraclough of Quickslide won the ‘Nearest the Pin’ contest.

John Hewitt, founder of Kelly’s Heroes says:  “The passion for the charity and what we do is always strong at the Glazerite Golf Day, but to raise more than £20,000 this year is fantastic.  We rely on fundraising events such as these to be able to provide our much-needed services as we receive no public funding.

“The generosity of these events, donations and other fundraising activities means that we can continue to provide services such as our live chat ‘Listening Ear’ service. In fact the funds raised at last year’s Golf Day enabled us to expand the hours this service is available, and we’re hoping to expand it further following this year’s event."

“Times are hard for many people, and it is imperative that Kelly’s Heroes can continue to play its part in supporting those in need. Within the last year alone, the charity has carried out 19 welfare checks and called five ambulances for people in crisis. We are literally saving lives, and it is all thanks to the support of those who generously support us at events like these.”

Our Golf Day is a firm favourite for customers, suppliers and employees alike, with the PGA also remarking on the success of the two-day event, which sees PGA professionals compete followed by the customer event and party. Will Dunn, Tournament Director for PGA Midlands, says: “The Glazerite PRO-AM Trophy, which this year took place on Thursday 20th June, always attracts our best from all over the country. The event was followed on Friday 21st June by the more relaxed Glazerite customer and supplier day, which gives our Pro players the opportunity to join in with and play with a terrific bunch of people, sharing tips and having fun along the way. On behalf of the PGA, I’d like to say big thank you to both Glazerite and Wellingborough Golf Club.”

Rob Brearley, Group Managing Director adds: “We’d like to thank the PGA and Wellingborough Golf Club for hosting the golf and the party, as well as all those who took part and helped us to raise an incredible amount for such an important charity. Our main event sponsors this year included Morley Blinds, DoorCo and Deceuninck, as well as Haffner, who generously topped up the initial total to take us over the £20,000 mark. Auction prizes and sponsorship were also provided by Symphony Windows, VEKA, Residence Collection, Business Micros, Avantis, Window Ware, CEN Solutions, Clearview, Brisant, Georgian Bar Company, Turner Windows, K2 Aluminium, Northumberland Glass and D&M Windows."

“Our Golf Day is a much anticipated and very much enjoyed fixture in the calendar, and we really appreciate all those who supported it and took part. The feedback we get after the day is always positive, with everyone agreeing that this year was the best yet! We’re already on countdown to next year’s event.”

Fleet investment offers leaner, greener deliveries
We’ve just made a significant investment in our transport fleet here at Glazerite – adding five brand-new 7.5 tonne vehicles and one 18 tonne vehicle, all of which are certified as Low Emission Class 6. Not only does this increase our delivery capacity across our Group, but it also supports our ongoing commitment to reduce our environmental impact. All six of the new vehicles meet Euro 6 standards – the toughest emissions regulations in place right now – which means they produce far less nitrogen oxide and particulates compared to older models. For us, it’s about more than just staying compliant. We want to play our part in creating a more sustainable future for the industry, and upgrading our fleet is just one way we’re doing that. It also means we can continue to improve the service we offer our installer partners, delivering more efficiently, reliably, and responsibly.   “As the UK’s leading trade fabricator, we’re always looking for ways to improve service, streamline operations, and support our sustainability goals. This latest investment allows us to do all three. The new fleet will not only enhance our delivery capabilities across the country but also helps reduce our carbon footprint thanks to their cleaner, more efficient engines.” Rob Brearley, Group Managing Director, Glazerite UK Group Ltd   With over 250 people across the group and a growing customer base nationwide, we know how important it is to keep everything running smoothly. These new vehicles will help us do just that – supporting all our divisions, including Wellingborough, Peterborough (East), Barnsley (North), Bolton (North West), and Bristol (South West). We’re proud to lead the way not just in product range and customer support, but in sustainability too. And this investment is another step in the right direction.
