When a house can pull of Irish Oak Woodgrain

CARAMEL SWEETENS THE DEAL WITH IRISH OAK FROM BARRETT’S AND GLAZERITE

Not every home suits Irish Oak woodgrain, says David Moors of Dorset installer Barrett’s Glass: “But when you find the right one and do it right, it can look superb.”

Doing it right in this case meant not only choosing the right supplier, Glazerite, but also putting extra care into carefully matching the foils of every component – even down to the specially ordered caramel base profile to keep the match when windows and doors are open.

David said: “We talked over a lot of options with the homeowners and they eventually settled on Irish Oak but they insisted on colour-matched profile underneath rather than just white. That was no problem for us because Glazerite could do it to order and when you see the finished work, you can see it was well worth it.”

Giovanni Sangiovanni of Glazerite’s South West division added: “The attention to detail really shows in the entire installation. Barrett’s have done a great job co-ordinating all the products – windows, doors, roofline conservatory roof. The result is one of the best uses of Irish Oak I’ve ever seen.”

The house, in Dorchester, previously had timber windows and roofline and an old conservatory. Along with VEKA FS casement windows, Barrett’s used a Solidor timber composite door, VEKA FS French doors and resi door and an Ultraframe double-hipped Edwardian conservatory roof. The Irish Oak theme was given a contrasting highlight with plain black guttering and drainpipes.

Glazerite Director Jason Thompson said: “When winning the job depended entirely on accessing one non-standard product, this shows how important it is for a trade fabricator to listen and respond to the needs of its installer partners. We were able to come up with the goods and the finished job is something the installer can be proud of.”

Barrett’s Glass and Window Centre is a long-standing Glazerite customer and Network VEKA member and has been operating in and around the Dorchester area for over 30 years. Glazerite is VEKA’s largest trade fabricator in the UK as well as a prominent and long-standing Network VEKA member. It offers a fully nationwide service based on manufacturing units in Northants and Greater Manchester as well as its South West distribution hub in Bristol serving South Wales and The West of England.

Glazerite sister company claims a G-award
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has applauded fellow fabricators, AluFoldDirect, for their win at this year’s G18 Awards. The aluminium bi-folding doors and windows manufacturer won the Fabricator of the Year award, while Glazerite and fellow Wellingborough-based fabricator, Emplas, were runners up at the event, which took place on Friday 30th November at the Hilton Park Lane, London. Glazerite Managing Director, Jason Thompson, says “Winning the award ourselves in 2017 has been a great morale boost for our employees, and for our profile in the industry.  Although there was no award for us this year, we were thrilled for our sister company, Double R, who claimed the award in the Glass Company category and for our installer, The Window Company (Contracts), who succeeded as Installer of the Year.   “We had a fantastic night and would like to say thank you to the organisers. It’s always a great atmosphere and a good opportunity to catch up with old and new faces from across the industry.” Glazerite cemented their 2017 win with some further extensions to their already comprehensive portfolio, including new styles and colours across their composite doors and the addition of Residence 7 as a third option to their Flush Sash range. The next 12 months will see a major investment plan for Glazerite across its sites, including plant, machinery and factory expansion, in order to further support the growth of its ambitious business plans.

Glazerite's annual Race Night raises smiles for charity
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd’s annual charity Race Evening took place on 16th November, with over 140 guests joining the fabricator for the fun-filled event. Held at the Wolverhampton Racecourse for the third successive year, the evening kicked off with the horseracing, followed by a three-course meal and a disco, all courtesy of VEKA’s leading trade fabricator, Glazerite. Employees from the Wellingborough-based firm welcomed customers and suppliers from the length and breadth of the UK for the annual event, which this year raised nearly £600 for The Lewis Foundation. The charity supplies gift packs for patients undergoing cancer treatment in and around hospitals local to Northamptonshire. Michelle Wright, Glazerite’s Group Marketing Manager, says: “We’ve been supporting The Lewis Foundation for a while. They’re a fantastic charity who have this year given out a staggering 15,000 gift packs to patients. We’re really proud to be able to support them again with our Race Night.” Guest Gary Copp, from Goldseal Conservatories Ltd, says of the event: “The Race Night was the best we’ve attended so far. We’ve worked with Glazerite for many years, installing their industry-leading products and we would like to thank them for a wonderful evening and for the opportunity to support the Lewis Foundation. A good night was had by all!” K2 Aluminium Systems’ Liam Bird and his wife Paula were delighted to meet leading lady jockey, Hayley Turner OBE on the night. Liam says: “Hayley was riding the Queen’s horse, Eightsome Reel, at the meet and it was really interesting to meet her.” Meanwhile, Glazerite’s very own Cassie Macdonald hit a winning streak, thanks to her equine namesake, Castle Hill Cassie, coming first past the post. Jason Thompson, Glazerite’s Director, says: “The event is a great way for us to thank our customers for their continued loyalty. It’s always a great night, and a good opportunity for our customers, staff and suppliers to get together in an informal way. We are also delighted to have raised so much money for the Lewis Foundation at the same time.”
