SCHOOL WARMS TO CHEADLE GLASS AND GLAZERITE
Heating bills at a Cheshire school were cut dramatically as soon as its windows were replaced with high rated energy efficient units from Cheadle Glass and Glazerite Windows Ltd.
Marple Hall School had been getting by with its original metal framed single glazing for many years but the resulting heat loss became all the more evident as soon as the new windows went in – and lower bills began arriving, according to Cheadle Glass Commercial Manager Karl Minter.
Cheadle Glass was not the cheapest bidder, he said, but with the support of Glazerite, the installer was able to show the right credentials and the right product specification to win the contract. More than 600 windows were installed in four phases over 22 weeks. As well as overall energy-efficiency for all the frames, low solar glass was used to combat heat build-up on large expanses of south-facing glass and lower floors were laminated for added security.
According to Karl, it was not only the windows that needed the right accreditation to win the contract. The length of the contract period meant much of the work had to be done in term time so on-site every member of the workforce had to undergo DBS (formerly CRB) vetting before working among the students.
Karl added: “It is always a pleasure to do a good job for anyone but it was especially satisfying when the client could see the benefits so clearly straight away.”
