SECURITY AS STANDARD – CUSTOMERS LOVE IT, SAYS HARDMANS

Nothing is shooting up the homeowner’s list of priorities faster than security and no company has made security a more high-profile issue than MACO. So in the wake of the hardware supplier beefing up its unique MACO Secure Plus guarantee package, who better to ask about its effectiveness than the scheme’s biggest trade customer – Wirral-based Hardmans.

“Every window, door and conservatory we install uses MACO as standard,” said co-director Gary Hardman. “Our fabricator, The Glazerite UK Group Ltd, gives us a choice but our customers love MACO so we see no reason to offer any other. We show every one of them the MACO brochure and I have pictures of every component on my iPad. You can see that they are impressed and reassured as soon as they see it.”

They are so impressed, in fact, that every single one of Hardmans’ nine or ten customers a week have registered online immediately. The scheme itself, with its ten-year guarantee and compensation of up to £1,000 is an obvious draw, he added, but it is the system itself that is the real attraction.

“Everyone likes a certificate, of course,” he explained, “It gives them immediate peace of mind. But when they see what the systems are and how they work, that is what really clinches it. For example, I can point out how there are at least seven locking points on even the smallest top opener. But then, when they hear that intruders often go for the window hinge and I show them how the MACO system puts two hooklocks beside the hinges, the usual reply is ‘Yes, I’d never thought of that!’

Glazerite customers have had the choice of MACO hardware since 2003 and in 2010 the fabricator offered the newly launched MACO Secure Plus Guarantee Scheme. As a result, because of key user feedback from companies such as Hardmans the scheme has now been completely revamped to bring to the market a further improved offering with even more real end user benefits as well as updated consumer literature.

The scheme has just launched with some great new marketing support, including a new homeowner brochure and portal demonstrating the key benefits. The enhanced benefits of the scheme now include:

  • Ten-year security Guarantee against break in through failure of the hardware
  • Home insurance savings
  • Excess cover, against building and contents insurance, should a homeowner ever need to make a claim the scheme now pays out up to £500 against buildings insurance and £500 against contents insurance.
  • Replacement product cover to match the rest of the property
  • Lost key return
  • Key holding service to avoid costly locksmith bills.
  • Alarm response to quickly react to any problems at the property.

Glazerite’s Peter Smith said: “MACO Secure Plus is a great way for installers to differentiate themselves from the competition by offering homeowners the peace of mind that such a powerful guarantee package offers. The built-in insurance also means if intruders do break in as a result of the MACO hardware failing, the homeowners need not claim on their home insurance, so their premium is protected.

“At Glazerite, we give installers a choice but we actively recommend that they give MACO some serious thought.”

Glazerite strengthens senior management team
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has strengthened its senior management team with three new appointments and an internal promotion. The operations and technical-focused positions will allow the fabricator to further improve service levels across its three largest sites. Mark Towers joined Glazerite on 7th January 2019 as Bolton-based North West Division General Manager/ Director Designate. With over 25 years’ industry experience, Mark has worked to improve the output of a number of manufacturing operations, ranging from composite doors to glazing, and has also held senior positions at ODL Europe Limited, HansenGlass Processing, and HM Doors. Mark says: “It’s an exciting time to join Glazerite. I’m very much looking forward to working with the team at the Bolton site going forward, with an initial focus to continue improving standards at the site and carry out the investment and extension programme planned for this year.” Taking up the position of Group Operations Manager is Andrew Worroll, who will report directly into Group Operations Director, Ian Lloyd. He has over 20 years’ experience in operations, production and supply chain, and will focus mainly on Glazerite’s Wellingborough sites, in order to free up more of Ian’s time to focus on the Group Operations strategy. In December 2018, Glazerite also welcomed Mitchell Gooch, who took on the role of Group Technical and Processing Support Manager at the fabricator’s Peterborough site. Mitchell, who has previously worked in technical roles at SGM Windows Manufacturing Ltd, won the prestigious Apprentice of the Year G12 award while at Pioneer Trading Company Ltd. In addition to these key appointments, which form part of Glazerite’s strategy to better serve its growing base of installers, the fabricator has also announced that Chris Price is joining the board of Directors as Group Procurement Director. Chris will focus on further improving the product development programme and procurement process across the group going forward. Jason Thompson, Glazerite Director, says: “2018 was a challenging year for us and the industry as a whole. Despite this, we’ve increased our products and services portfolio, and strengthened our sales and marketing team with specialist expertise in areas like digital marketing. We have been stretched in some areas, which highlighted the need to further strengthen our senior management team. Now, with Mark, Andrew and Mitchell in place, we’re in the best possible position to go forward and achieve our plans for growth in 2019 and beyond. Combined with recent and planned future investment, we’re well-placed to serve our growing installer base and help them to become best-in-class.” (Above image from left to right, Andrew Worroll, Mitchell Gooch, Mark Towers)

Glazerite sister company claims a G-award
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has applauded fellow fabricators, AluFoldDirect, for their win at this year’s G18 Awards. The aluminium bi-folding doors and windows manufacturer won the Fabricator of the Year award, while Glazerite and fellow Wellingborough-based fabricator, Emplas, were runners up at the event, which took place on Friday 30th November at the Hilton Park Lane, London. Glazerite Managing Director, Jason Thompson, says “Winning the award ourselves in 2017 has been a great morale boost for our employees, and for our profile in the industry.  Although there was no award for us this year, we were thrilled for our sister company, Double R, who claimed the award in the Glass Company category and for our installer, The Window Company (Contracts), who succeeded as Installer of the Year.   “We had a fantastic night and would like to say thank you to the organisers. It’s always a great atmosphere and a good opportunity to catch up with old and new faces from across the industry.” Glazerite cemented their 2017 win with some further extensions to their already comprehensive portfolio, including new styles and colours across their composite doors and the addition of Residence 7 as a third option to their Flush Sash range. The next 12 months will see a major investment plan for Glazerite across its sites, including plant, machinery and factory expansion, in order to further support the growth of its ambitious business plans.
