The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has announced the purchase of the entire share capital of Trade Frame Holdings Limited, in turn, the owner of City Beads Ltd of Peterborough and a new group structure for £28 million company.

The company will operate as Glazerite (East) Ltd under a new holding company called The Glazerite UK Group Ltd, with John Hewitt as Chairman, Jason Thompson as Managing Director, Mike Johnson as Finance Director and Ian Lloyd as Operations Director. Also included within the new structure will be Glazerite Windows Ltd; Glazerite (Northwest) Ltd; and Glazerite (Southwest) Ltd. Each company will be headed by its own Board of Directors formed through selective promotions from within each division and complimented by external appointments.

As City Beads Ltd the company manufactures products using Halo Rustique and System 10, both VEKA UK Group products and key factors in the decision to purchase the company. These will be complemented by additional products already offered by Glazerite, including vertical sliding and fully reversible windows, Bi-Folding doors, Residence 9 flush sash windows and composite residential doors by Solidor & Doorco.

Other significant factors that influenced the acquisition include the company’s Peterborough location, its longevity – City Beads Ltd was formed in 1982 – a longstanding team and established customer base.  Current sales are circa £4 million with an output of 450 frames per week.

An investment programme already agreed will take place over 12 – 18 months with an expected growth to £6m, an increase of 50%, within that period.

The infrastructure will include the installation of Glazerite’s in-house software system, with full bar coding throughout production and transparency across the business; and the implementation of enhanced tools designed to improve reporting and efficiency.

Combined output of The Glazerite UK Group Ltd is now in excess of 3500 frames per week, this will increase to more than 3800 frames following completion of the investment in systems and machinery. The group forecast sales in excess of £28 million for 2016 making them one of the largest independently owned companies in the industry.

Group Chairman John Hewitt said of the acquisition: “The purchase of Trade Frame Holdings Ltd and City Beads Ltd became a natural and obvious move and I would like to thank Will Nicoll, former owner of the company, for his cooperation and support throughout the negotiations. Will intends to continue to run his Tradeframe.com operation in Peterborough, Cheltenham, Hertfordshire & Swindon and will become a customer of Glazerite (East) Ltd. The focus of all operations will be significantly improved as a result.

“Additionally Glazerite customers will now enjoy the choice of a huge range of products, with The Glazerite UK Group  the largest supplier of VEKA Group products by a significant margin. This brings benefits of efficiency, expertise and scale. The relationships with VEKA and our other market leading suppliers has been a corner stone of our success over more than 16 years and this will continue.

“This is the most exciting and positive time for everyone involved with and in The Glazerite UK Group and we welcome our new colleagues and customers to the Glazerite family”

Will Nicoll was quick to praise Glazerite: “We had interest from a number of potential purchasers but I saw Glazerite as the perfect choice to take the company forward. My skills and passion are in retail and I can now concentrate on developing Tradeframe.com knowing that I have an excellent supplier and that the City Beads team - to whom I remain incredibly grateful and loyal - will prosper through Glazerite’s enormous strengths in manufacturing. It’s an excellent outcome.”

Glazerite and D&M Windows team up on office installations
Olham-based D & M Windows and Doors Ltd has recently completed two large commercial installations using windows and doors fabricated by The Glazerite UK Group Ltd. VEKA-approved installer, D & M Windows, was appointed by contractors Brown & Bancroft to work on the Siemens office building in Congleton, Cheshire, thanks to their extensive experience across the North West. The transformation of the building took three months to complete and involved the installation of 200 VEKA M70 windows, in White, over four floors. Founded in 2006, by Mark and Darren Hoolickin, D & M Windows has worked with VEKA's largest trade fabricator, Glazerite, for the last four years. Last month, the installer put the finishing touches on another office building, Burlington House, in Crosby, Liverpool, using windows fabricated by Glazerite. In their first job for Amspec Ltd, Mark, Darren and their team installed over 500 VEKA M70 windows in Anthracite Grey, with a white interior. The project took just under five months to complete.  D & M Windows' Managing Director, Mark Hoolickin, says: "We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and pour 100 per cent commitment into every job. As a family-run business, we work across every project from start to finish to ensure the customer receives the very best. Thanks to VEKA's profile system and fabricator Glazerite, we are able to achieve high standards on a range of jobs, from bespoke residential properties right through to large commercial installations like Siemens and Burlington House." Peter Smith, of Glazerite's North West division, adds: "Both installations are exemplary and highlight the high quality workmanship carried out by the D & M Windows team. We are delighted to have been able to supply both prestigious projects." To contact D & M Windows visit www.dandmwindowsanddoors.co.uk.

Glazerite adds three new faces to Sales & Marketing team
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd is looking to better serve the needs of its growing installer base with a number of new appointments to its sales and marketing team. Katie Sampson joins the Wellingborough-based fabricator this month as Area Sales Manager, with responsibility for customers across the South East and the Midlands. Reporting directly into Glazerite’s Group Sales & Marketing Director, Jeff Dunn, Katie says: “I can’t wait to get started and to meet my customers. I’ve worked with Glazerite before when I was at Network VEKA (now Independent Network) and have watched them grow from afar. I really like their customer-focused ethos and I’m delighted to be joining them.” Jeff adds: “Katie’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Glazerite and our customers. She has proven industry experience, including installer support and trade counter positions with some leading industry brands. She also has a thorough knowledge of the portfolio, from VEKA/Halo products right through to doors, hardware and roofing systems, and brings with her energy, a proven work ethic and a great understanding of customer service.” Katie joins Glazerite from a Sales Manager role at Ultraframe and has previously worked in customer-focused roles with VEKA and SIG plc. As part of its sales and marketing team’s transformation, Glazerite has also recently appointed Jeff Dunn into the newly-created Group Sales and Marketing Director role, and last year recruited Lauren Edwards as Digital Marketing Coordinator. Jason Thompson, Managing Director, explains: “As part of our aim to help installers become best-in-class, we wanted to bolster the support we can give to our customers, including digital marketing support. Lauren’s expertise means we can provide tailored website content, social media management and search engine optimisation to help our installers attract new customers.” Lauren has already made an impact, with the news she has been shortlisted for ‘Social Networker’ at this year’s National Fenestration Awards. Meanwhile, Jeff Dunn is settling into his new role at the fabricator and is looking ahead to the benefits a growing team can bring for customers. “It’s a great time for Katie to be joining our team. We’re looking forward to getting out and about seeing customers and continuing to deliver the exceptional service they expect from us.”
