In operational performance

Alongside our investment and operational alignment, we have been running a continuous improvement programme across the group.  This year alone we’ve made significant investments to our machinery with over £400k poured into the group, including 5 head welders for Bolton and Wellingborough, a corner cleaner for North West and a Haffner Saw at our East division. We're now benefitting from increase in output and efficiencies that are passed on to our customers.

Our vehicles

A big focus for us in the last 12 months has been on our fleet to do our part with our carbon footprint, this has started with moving our company cars across to an electric vehicle fleet where practical.

 

Our delivery vehicles play a particularly important role in this as some of our customers are based in low emission zones. All recent additions to our fleet are sustainably credible and meet the emissions requirements of cities like London and Birmingham.  

Processes and efficiencies

Generally we are always looking at better ways to do things - staff are encouraged to input and embed ideas to contribute to our learning.  At Glazerite East for example, a new sash horn miller has allowed us to manage the run-through sash horn process for Halo casements fully in-house, this has enabled us to remove dependency on third parties and given us greater flexibility on lead times for our customers.

Our people

Many of our staff members have developed and progressed into new roles this year and an intensive programme of training and development for managers is underway.  Bringing fresh blood into the industry is a much valued area and we do this through number of routes, but one namely being our apprenticeship appointments across all functions and all divisions.
