Tags:   |   Added:

We have justmappointed a new Area Sales Manager for the South West region. Industry stalwart Jason Scrivens joined us last month and brings over two decades of fenestration experience to the role.

Based in our Bristol office, Jason will support the fabricator’s customer base across the West Country and into Wales. With a background that spans uPVC fabrication and profile systems to other ancillary products, Jason is ready and raring to go.

He says: “I am delighted to be joining Glazerite, and I look forward to connecting with our customers across the South West. It is a fantastic company to be a part of. I welcome the chance to grow with Glazerite by working closely with our installer partners to meet their own growth ambitions.”

Jason’s appointment follows a major expansion in our UK footprint and its portfolio. Over the last 12 months, we have opened a new site in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and added the Deceuninck profile system to its existing VEKA and Residence Collection offering. In August, we announced we were shoring up our sales team with the addition of Jordan Davidson to further support installers based in Scotland.

Jeff Dunn, Group Sales & Commercial Director, Glazerite, says: “Jason has joined Glazerite at a pivotal time. He has years of experience in the industry and his knowledge will make a real difference for our installers. We are delighted to welcome him on board.”

From classic to colourful: The shift in home exterior trends
As interior design shades go, most of us were probably pleased to see the back of avocado, leaving it well behind in the last century. Yet, according to a recent report from DIY retailer Wickes, the muted green shade - along with peach and coral pink - is back in vogue across bathrooms, fuelled by Gen Z and Millennials.   With homeownership amongst Millennials now at its highest level in over a decade, it remains to be seen if this passion for retro colour transfers to home exteriors. When it comes to boosting kerb appeal however, UK homeowners are certainly getting bolder with their choices. uPVC too has come a long way since the 'White Gold' era. Though sales of the most traditional white might be slowly declining, the hue remains popular for its simplicity. Meanwhile, uPVC us still favoured for its cost effectiveness, durability, energy efficiency, and low maintenance nature - characteristics that are continuously being improved. Along with technological developments in the manufacture of uPVC, today's windows and doors are also available in hundreds of colour ways. Whatever the homeowner's requirement or the style or age of their house, there are endless shades to choose from, with consumer demand for colour showing no signs of slowing down. Statistics from leading foil supplier, Renolit, reveal that when it comes to colour, Anthracite Grey remains the biggest seller, ahead of Beck Brown and Rosewood, with solid colours also making up more than three-quarters of sales over woodgrain. When it comes to different shades of grey, Slate, Agate and Pebble Grey are also increasingly appealing for homeowners. Indeed, one of our customers, Northumberland Glass, has seen a recent uptick in shades of grey other than Anthracite. Abigail Adams, Owner and Director of Northumberland Glass, says: "We are just about to install a number of Silver Grey VEKA casement windows on a property near to our base in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The customer has chosen to replace the existing timber windows with uPVC to reduce the time required to maintain them while remaining sympathetic to the original painted grey windows. We are seeing more and more customers choosing to move away from the traditional White once they realise how much choice there is out there now. Alongside growing interest in various grey shades, we've also seen a rise in Golden Oak windows and doors, including patios." When it comes to making the right choice to suit the customer's home, Abigail and her team will talk through the range of VEKA, Deceuninck and Residence Collection frames on offer. At the heart of every Northumberland Glass sale is a desire to ensure the customer makes the right choice to suit their home, whether it's a new build or period property. To achieve this, Abigail will visit prospective customers several times to build a relationship and to get to drops with their needs and their taste, even taking them to visit previous Northumberland Glass installs so they can see what their choice of windows and doors will look like in use. Abigail adds: "When it comes to colour and style, it's paramount that the customer makes the right choice and selects the best shade and frame that will work practically and aesthetically for their home." To deliver the very best install, and to be in a position to offer customers a choice of colours and frames, Abigail values the support of our team and our comprehensive portfolio. Alongside this choice, what matters most for Abigail is the trust she has built up with us, which is underpinned by regular communication and responsiveness, technical support and reliable, on-time deliveries. Our range of windows and doors from the likes of Deceuninck, VEKA, Halo, Residence, DoorCo and Solidor straddles both contemporary and traditional styles. With new colours being added across the ranges, and the option for customers to choose a different shade internally to fit with their interior decor, the choice for homeowners these days is vast and ever-growing. Whether it is neutral grey tones, dark and dramatic hues, or a bright splash of vibrant colour, keeping pace with consumer demand for colour is vital for us so we can ensure our installers stay ahead of competitors who don't have access to the same choices. Partnering with Deceuninck to elevate our commercial offering
With plans to build its profile in the commercial space forming a key part of our strategy, we chose to partner with Deceuninck, starting manufacture of its dedicated commercial window system, the Deceuninck 2500 series earlier this year. Darren Rhodes, Managing Director, North explained why we chose this partnership. “We saw Deceuninck as a strategic partner from the very beginning,” said Darren Rhodes, managing director, North, Glazerite. “Their strong capabilities and dedicated commercial department, which works closely with our sales and commercial team, made them an ideal fit. “The 2500 was recommended by Deceuninck, particularly for the commercial projects. We have traditionally used a chamfered product in that sector, so it fits very well with our strategy,” Darren continued. The Traditional 2500 system is designed for energy efficiency and security, making it ideal for commercial applications. It offers over 30 stock colour options and achieves U-Values as low as 0.86 W/m²K. The system is compatible with standard security hardware and meets the enhanced security standard PAS24 for both windows and doors. “The combination of the Traditional 2500’s core product performance with Deceuninck’s market leading colour options and a world-class OTIF of 98% forms a powerful proposition in the commercial space,” said Darren. “This ensures that clients benefit from high-performing, versatile products along with reliable and efficient delivery. “Technically, Deceuninck is very strong,” Darren added. “Our team had the opportunity to visit Deceuninck’s plants in both Belgium and the UK. This allowed us to gain valuable insights into its manufacturing processes and quality control measures.” “This firsthand experience underscored Deceuninck’s commitment to excellence and innovation. Its comprehensive product training programs for our customer care and technical teams have equipped us with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver exceptional service to our clients. “Additionally, Deceuninck’s advanced software for calculating U-values and energy ratings has been instrumental in ensuring that we can provide our customers with high-quality, energy-efficient products tailored to their specific needs.” At the end of 2023, Glazerite embarked on a significant project by announcing the establishment of a new manufacturing site in Barnsley. “We set ourselves a huge task when we announced our new manufacturing site in Barnsley at the end of last year,” recalled Darren. “The transformation of an empty shell into a fully functioning Deceuninck fabrication site in just 84 days was a remarkable achievement.” The site manufactures Deceuninck 2500 and 2800 casements, tilt and turn windows, as well as composite doors, residential and French doors. The North division is led by Darren and Darryl Count, office manager. “We introduced Deceuninck to our range in the summer last year to open up specification options for our installer partners to be able to compete in their markets,” Darren explained.
