Glazerite adds new investment to help keep up with demand

Glazerite unveils seven-figure investment for 2016, including new machinery...new special products factory...more vehicles, more people and a broadside of new products...on top of the major acquisition already announced - all part of plans revealed by trade fabricator Glazerite Windows Ltd to celebrate its 15th successive year of double digit growth.

“This will be one of the most dynamic years in our history,” said Director Jason Thompson, outlining the plans. “The success of our customers in 2015 was phenomenal and we saw record sales for Glazerite but now we are going all out to top that in 2016.

“We started the year as we meant to go on with the acquisition of Trade Frame Holdings but that was only the beginning of the plans we have for the rest of the year.”

At the heart of those plans is a seven-figure investment programme that has already seen one new, highly advanced Supercut 6 cutting and machining centre installed, with a second to follow soon. Then, Glazerite will almost double its ‘specials’ capacity with a new 30,000sqft unit to keep ahead of demand for its Vertical Sliders, Residence9, and bi-fold and patio doors that has already outgrown the existing 16,000sqft specials factory in less than two years since its launch. Over £500,000 has already been invested in specialist machinery for the factory and this will now be brought forward into the new unit.

Further investments in people, machinery and the delivery fleet are expected to be announced during the year and at least four new products will be unveiled at the FIT Show in April.

The recent growth has not come without growing pains, Jason admitted. He acknowledged the patience of customers and reassured them that the new machinery is already overcoming any problems, adding: “We owe our customers a huge thank you for their continuing support and understanding.”

He continued: “These are very exciting times for Glazerite and all of our customers and we are looking forward in 2016 to consolidating our position as VEKA’s largest fabricator as well as one of the UK’s biggest independently owned window companies.

“We will be revealing much more about our new products and plans at the FIT Show but in the meantime we want all our customers to know that we are ‘FIT for the Future’.”

Glazerite recently announced the acquisition of Trade Frame Holdings, owner of Peterborough-based VEKA Halo fabricator City Beads, declaring to grow the company’s £4million sales to £6million in a proposed 18 months of investment.

Glazerite was already VEKA UK Group’s largest trade fabricator in the UK and is a long-standing Network VEKA member. It offers a fully nationwide service based on manufacturing units in Northants, Peterborough and Greater Manchester as well as its South West distribution hub in Bristol serving South Wales and The West of England.

Glazerite grows fleet to go further than ever
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has made a £150,000 investment into the expansion of its delivery vehicle fleet, with the addition of two new 18-tonne, custom built lorries. The move will further strengthen the VEKA fabricator's ability to deliver to customers on time, in full, all over the UK.  Ian Lloyd, Glazerite's Operations Director, explains the reasons behind the investment. He says: "The new lorries complement our existing 16-strong fleet of 7.5 tonne delivery vehicles, and will allow us to improve on our distance and overnight capabilities. Being able to fulfil our order book and deliver to customers on time is integral to our offering as a leading fabricator." Following the investment, Glazerite has improved its carrying capacity for particular delivery routes, including Scotland and the South West. Ian says: "Deliveries from Glazerite North West to Scotland, and from Glazerite's HQ in the Midlands to Cornwall, South Wales and the Isle of Wight involve overnight stays. These routes are growing in volume and often we have to send two trucks. This investment allows us to cater for that growth and complete these deliveries utilising one larger vehicle." Two dedicated drivers have been employed by Glazerite at its sites in Wellingborough and Bolton - where the vehicles are based - and both have already begun making deliveries to installers.  Glazerite's fleet has undergone a largescale rebrand in the last 18 months following the fabricator's transition from Glazerite Windows Ltd to The Glazerite UK Group and the rebrand of Network VEKA to Independent Network.  Michelle Wright, Group Marketing Manager, explains what a key part the vehicle livery plays in Glazerite's profile. She says: "Our vehicle livery approach has been to focus on retail rather than trade following the recent rebrand. The fleet covers tens of thousands of miles across the UK every week, making it one of our most valuable and visible brand carriers. We hope that by aligning with our retail brand, the refreshed livery and new lorries will inspire homeowners to invest in high quality windows and doors, which will ultimately benefit our installers."

Cheadle Glass and Glazerite solve noisy problem
When the owners of an airport hotel asked an installer for help with high quality frames and acoustic glass, you’d be forgiven for thinking it might have been to keep the overhead noise of aircraft to a minimum. Yet for Stockport-based Cheadle Glass and their fabricator, the Glazerite UK Group Ltd, the job actually involved finding a solution to help resolve hotel customers’ complaints about the nearby trainline. Family-run Cheadle Glass is one of the North West’s leading installers and has been in business for over 50 years. Using VEKA M70 frames fabricated by Glazerite, the Cheadle Glass team installed 80 double-glazed windows over a three-week-period at the Clayton Hotel, Manchester Airport. The install replaced existing windows at the back of the hotel which are closest to the railway lines, and match the original windows installed to the front of the hotel. Dalata, the Irish hotel operators who own the Clayton chain, were so impressed with the install they’ve approached Cheadle to work with them on further installations across the UK. Karl Minter, Commercial Sales Manager, Cheadle Glass, says: “The install included the use of acoustic glass, which, combined with the frame quality and how well the units were sealed and fitted, meant we were able to provide a soundproof solution for the client and block out the noise of the trains. Dalata tested and measured the results, and were delighted with the outcome.” He adds: “We pride ourselves on the excellent and consistent service we provide to our customers, and we’re supported in this by Glazerite who we’ve worked with for the last 10 years, The quality and workmanship that goes into the fabrication of their frames, as well as things like the integrity of the lock systems and hardware they use mean we’re able to install a high-quality product.” Pete Smith, Sales Manager for Glazerite, says of the install: “We’ve got a great relationship with Cheadle Glass and were delighted to support them on this installation. Working closely with our installers means we are able to provide exactly what they need, when they need it, unique to whatever the install requires.” Cheadle Glass was founded in 1968 and is a leading manufacturer and installer of uPVC and aluminium windows, doors, conservatories and glass extensions for commercial and domestic properties.
